Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members are facing a complaint at the Ghatkopar police station in Mumbai for allegedly hurting religious sentiments in a viral Christmas celebration video. The complainant, Sanjay Tiwari, contends that the video depicts Ranbir Kapoor pouring liquor on a cake and setting it on fire while saying "Jai Mata Di."
Tiwari claims that, in Hinduism, the fire god is traditionally invoked before other deities, and the use of intoxicants during the celebration of a different religious festival is offensive.
Tiwari alleges that the act of setting the cake on fire, accompanied by the 'Jai Mata Di' chant, has hurt his religious sentiments. As of now, no First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in the case.
The video in question, shared on Instagram by Filmfare, shows a man pouring liquor over a cake while Ranbir Kapoor, seated beside Alia Bhatt, lights it and utters the phrase 'Jai Mata Di.' The caption of the Instagram post suggests it is from the Kapoor family's Christmas lunch.
